AUSTRALIA LAND AND AREA
Australia on the whole is an exceedingly flat and dry land. The western half of the continent occupies the escapements of a rough plateau that appear to be mountain ranges and are generally 1,000 to 2,000 ft high. There area no permanent lakes or rivers in the region. The south west corner of the continent has small moist and fertile area, but the Western continent is arid, with large desert areas. |
