AUSTRALIA—TRAVEL & TOURISM

Australia’s biggest attraction is its natural beauty, its sun baked horizons, dense tropical rain forests and its chilly southern beaches. Along the coasts of Australia, its cities boast of both European enthusiasms for art and food, and love of sports and outdoors. The sheer vastness and diverse population gives Australia much character.

Any time of the year is a good time to be in Australia. During summer although it can get very hot, it has great beach weather and in the north, the summer wet season is very humid and the sea is swarming with jelly fish. Winter is the time for skiing especially in NSW, Victoria and sometimes in Tasmania. During autumn and spring the weather is mild.

The Kakadu National Park is a natural marvel with a variety of habitats, mass wildlife and some of Australia’s best rock art. It is World Heritage –listed for both its natural and cultural importance.
The only thing visible from space and larger than the Great Wall of China, the Great Barrier Reef is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The colorful coral that starches along the Queensland Seaboard makes some of the most spectacular diving landscape that’s unimaginable.
In the thick of the Great Dividing Range, the Blue Mountains are a prime example of Australian bush. Katoomba is a major tourist centre.
Cairns are a tourist boomtown that shines with the carnival atmosphere of travelers all year round. The lagoons and the spanking Pier Market place make it truly an international tourist destination. Beside its markets, culture, accommodation, shopping and seaside atmosphere, Cairn’s big drawcard is its access to the outer tentacles of the Great Barrier Reef. The city is booming with tourists during the winter month; however the peak season is from June to October when temperature is comfortably hot and rainfall is minimal.
Melbourne dubbed as marvelous is a cosmopolitan, suburban, cultivated, conservative and haven for the avant-garde. Visitors come for its shopping, restaurants, nightlife and sporting calendar.
Sydney is Australia’s oldest city and the economic power house of the nation. It is blessed with dizzy skyscrapers, restaurants, superb shopping and friendly folk. It is comfortable to visit Sydney any time of the year, but best to keep away in summer.
There is so much more to be seen in the beautiful land of Australia.
