NEW CANADA REGULATION AND ANNOUNCEMENT
Canada’s New Government proposed a new frame work to determine when to deregulate retail telephone prices of the telephone companies CRTC{Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission} in the interest of Canadian consumerism Bernier said that the proposal is intended to stimulate competition among local telephone service providers so that Canadian consumers and businesses will benefit even more. Consumers will benefit even more choices, improved products and services. The proposal not only reduces unnecessary regulation, but also increases competition in telecommunication.
The Government of Canada has announced to make numerous enhancements to the air transportation security system since the attacks on September 11, 2001.and new intrusion resistance requirements. It proposed the reinforcement of cockpit doors on Canadian registered aircraft to provide further protection to flight crews and Canadian air travelers. The new mandate would be the installation of internal locking devices to flight compartment doors.
The Government of Canada has also announced to further enhance the security of Canada’s marine transportation system and maritime borders. The initiative will benefit Hamilton’s shipping community by ensuring greater security presence, and helping to promote trade and economic growth in the area f Great Lakes region. This will also significantly improve surveillance and response capability in Canadian waters. The Government of Canada will also work to further secure Canada’s maritime borders by providing funding for the Canadian Navy’s Halifax-class petrol frigates to carry emergency response boats and coastal radar surveillance
Canada’s Clean Air Act was introduced and given to the Canadians by the New Government, to regulate a commitment to the establishment of short, medium-and long-term industrial air pollution targets. These targets would compel polluters to respect emission limits. The Clean Air Act will improve the health of Canadians, especially young children, elderly Canadians, and people who suffer from chronic heart and respiratory illnesses. The new regulations will lead to significant and long-term reductions in air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from industry, transportation and consumer products.
The Health Minister of Canada announced new regulatory proposal on tobacco package labeling and promotion. The proposal would introduce new health messages that have been designed for youth by youth. It will also provide consumers with more extensive information on the health impacts of the toxic emissions in cigarette smoking.
The Canadian Government has raised the bar on the energy efficiency standards for a range of consumer products and equipment. Regulations under the Energy Efficiency Act set minimum energy-performing levels for a number of energy –using products such as lighting, heating and air conditioning products.80% of energy used in homes and businesses will soon be regulated.
