NEW ZEALAND IMMIGRATION FROM INDIA

There are five main ways to immigrate to New Zealand. The usual categories for permanent residence are:

Skilled Migrant: The skilled category has been the most popular visa class for permanent residency in New Zealand. All applicants must be under 56 years of age and are also required to meet the health, character and English language and also meet a minimum of 100 points. With regards to an offer of employment, work experience, qualification and age, points are awarded, and Bonus points for employment outside Auckland and for New Zealand qualifications.

Immigration New Zealand has special specific selection criteria, by which those applicants that fit the criteria will be selected in sufficient numbers to meet the places available and will be invited to lodge a application for Residence in New Zealand. Since it is not on first in, first served basis, applicants will send the necessary documents to support their claims made in their Expression of Interest. Applicants with skilled job in New Zealand or an offer of skilled employment prior to applying have a great likelihood of being selected and invited to apply for residence.

Family: In the family class you may apply as a partner if you are legally married to a New Zealand citizen or resident or if you are in same sex relationship of at least 12 .months duration. You may also apply as a parent if you satisfy the “centre of gravity” test, meaning you have an equal or greater number of adult children living in New Zealand. You may also be able to migrate to New Zealand if you have a parent or sibling who is a permanent resident or citizen.

Business: Immigrating to New Zealand under The Long Term Visa/Entrepreneur visa, are for those b business owners, senior manager/company directors or those with successful history of self-employment. Applicants must possess sufficient funds and business experience to establish or purchase the proposed business in New Zealand

There are two visa processes:

You will be issued a long-term business visa for an initial period of nine months to enter, establish or purchase your business and on satisfying the visa officer you can  be allowed to stay for a maximum period of 3 years after being issued  with a work permit.
Permanent residence is applied for under Entrepreneur class once business has been successfully established.

Under the Investor Class, applicants must possess a total net worth of at least of NZD $2 million, and prove these funds have been generated through their own business.

Temporary Visa: A number of temporary visa are also available e.g. a work visa, where in you are offered a job and the employer is willing to sponsor you, and the duration of this visa will be according to the employment contract or 3 years.
Also citizens aged between 18yrs and 30 yrs of age may consider obtaining Working Holiday visa, enabling you to work and travel for 1 year.
